Network and environment configuration

The bandwidth, ports, domains and device settings your IT team needs to approve.

What this is: the minimum and recommended network and device settings for Visionflex virtual care.

Who it’s for: IT teams, network administrators and the person coordinating go-live. Send this link with the Email to your IT department template.

Bandwidth

Quality Upload and download per session
Minimum 350 kbps each way (700 kbps total)
Default video (640 x 480 at 30 fps) Above the minimum
HD (720p) 1.5 Mbps each way
Full HD (1080p) 3 to 5 Mbps per stream, and up to 6 Mbps upload if simulcast is used

Needs scale with the number of sessions running at once. Below the minimum, video quality and stability are unpredictable.

Ports

Port Protocol Purpose Status
443 TCP HTTPS for the Visionflex backend, RoomVu servers, WebRTC signalling, VF Sync and certificate checks Required
3478 TCP and UDP STUN and TURN NAT traversal (turnserveraus.visionflex.com) Required
5349 TLS Encrypted TURN fallback for restricted networks Required
1935 or SRT TCP Camera streams for RoomVu (vfantmedia-prod.visionflex.com) Required
1025 to 65535 UDP WebRTC audio and video, avoids TURN relay Recommended
80 TCP Certificate validation (ocsp.godaddy.com, crl.godaddy.com) Recommended

All connections start from the client. Ports 3478 and 5349 only accept traffic in response to an outbound request.

Allow outbound UDP. UDP favours speed over retransmission, which gives better audio and video than TCP.

Domains to allowlist

  • *.visionflex.com
  • *.tokbox.com
  • *.opentok.com
  • *.vonage.com
  • *.media.prod.tokbox.com
  • ocsp.godaddy.com
  • crl.godaddy.com

On the device

  • Local service. The Visionflex service uses localhost:5001. Don’t block loopback traffic.
  • Antivirus and EDR. Add an exclusion for the Visionflex install folder if needed.
  • USB. The GEIS camera, speakerphone and stethoscope must be recognised by the operating system. USB and endpoint policies must allow these device classes.
  • Bluetooth. Keep it on for the pulse oximeter, thermometer, ECG, scales, glucose meter and blood pressure monitor. Device management policies must not block pairing.

Pre-go-live checklist

Test before clinical use

Run the Vonage pre-call test from each room where you will run consults. It checks WebSocket connectivity, TURN relay, media send and receive, and estimated bandwidth.
