Virtual care with Microsoft Teams

Share your station's cameras and ProEX in a Teams meeting, and know what works differently.

What this is: how to run a consult in Microsoft Teams from your Visionflex station.

Who it’s for: nurses, health workers and teams whose clinicians prefer Teams.

Join the Teams meeting

  1. Open Teams or Outlook and join or start the meeting.
  2. In the pre-join screen, check the speaker, microphone and camera. If you can’t see them, go to More (…) > Settings > Devices once you are in the meeting.
  3. Choose the speakerphone (for example, the Jabra speakerphone) as the microphone and speaker. Check the level meter moves when you speak.
  4. Make sure an HDMI monitor isn’t selected as the speaker.
  5. Use Change Camera to pick the integrated camera or the patient camera.

Share ProEX

  1. Open ProEX from the desktop shortcut and log in as the clinician.
  2. In Teams, click Share, choose Window and select the ProEX window.
  3. The clinician now sees ProEX, including the examination camera and readings.

What works differently on Teams

On Teams On Vision
Stethoscope sounds don’t come through. Teams doesn’t carry the low-frequency audio a stethoscope needs. TrueSteth streams heart and lung sounds, and the clinician controls filters and gain.
One face camera at a time. Several cameras and devices at once.
The clinician can’t move the PTZ camera or click through ProEX. The clinician can drive the PTZ camera and interact with ProEX.

If the consult needs auscultation or the clinician needs to drive the camera, use Vision for that consult.

Troubleshooting Teams

They can’t hear you

  • Check you aren’t muted in Teams or on the speakerphone.
  • In Windows Settings > Privacy, allow Teams to use the microphone.
  • In Teams Devices, select the speakerphone microphone and check the meter moves.

You can’t hear them

  • Turn up the system volume and select the right speaker in Devices.
  • Turn off Bluetooth if audio is going to another device.
  • Make sure an HDMI monitor isn’t set as the speaker.

The camera isn’t working

  • Open the webcam privacy shutter or remove the PTZ lens cover.
  • Close other apps that might be using the camera.

Video or audio stutters

  • Turn off incoming video with More (…) > Turn off incoming video.
  • Stop large uploads or downloads.
  • Try Teams in the Edge or Chrome browser.

Last resorts: leave and rejoin, or sign out of Teams, quit and sign back in. Use a phone dial-in as an audio backup.
