Virtual care with healthdirect and Virtual ED
Use your station's cameras and ProEX inside a healthdirect Video Call, including VVED, Co-HIVE and WAVED.
What this is: how to use your Visionflex station’s cameras and ProEX when the call runs on healthdirect Video Call, for example with a virtual emergency department.
Who it’s for: nurses and health workers connecting to healthdirect-based services such as the Victorian Virtual ED (VVED), Co-HIVE or WAVED in WA, or a health service’s own waiting room.
Join the healthdirect call
- Switch on the station and open the browser.
- Go to your service’s waiting room link, for example
videocall.direct/[waiting room name]. If you don’t know it, ask your health service. - Click Change Camera and select the Integrated Camera.
- Wait in the waiting room. When a doctor is free, you join the call.
Tip: save the waiting room link as a desktop shortcut so staff can find it fast.
Share ProEX with the doctor
- Minimise the video call.
- Open ProEX from the desktop shortcut and log in as the clinician.
- Go back to the call. Click Apps & Tools, then Start a Screenshare.
- Click Window, select the ProEX window and click Share.
- The doctor can now see ProEX, including the examination camera and vital signs.
Use Change Camera in the call to switch between the integrated camera and the patient camera. If either side can’t see or hear the other, click Refresh Connections.
Use the clinical devices
ProEX works the same way as it does in Vision. See:
What works differently on healthdirect
- The doctor sees ProEX through a screen share, so they can’t control the patient camera or the stethoscope themselves.
- Digital stethoscope sounds need Vision’s TrueSteth to come through clearly. If your service needs auscultation, ask whether they can join a Vision call for that part of the consult.
